The creators of this video are asking what exactly is leading to this rapid teacher shortage in American Education and what can be done to Stop it? There answer is that teachers are leaving the profession because they are flat-out not being supported by administrators and feel unheard. They also found that teachers were feeling overwhelmed with covid restrictions which affected teacher retention. There Evidence includes surveys of teachers from The American Federation of Teachers and from The National education Association showing over 50% of Teachers are extremely dissatisfied with their current careers. The Makers of this video would argue with anyone that says teachers are paid enough and are happy with their working conditions.
This video showed me a similar subject and side of the story another source gave, the bottom line is that teachers are dissatisfied and the pool of teachers wanting to join is decreasing. However, a tactic school districts are using caught my eye, the video says, “Florida is recruiting military veterans to teach even if they are not certified”. This shows just how complicated this issue is because this should be the last resort, as having an actual certified teacher is just as important as having any teacher and just plugging in a military vet there will not work. My research paper will dive into weather it is worth it to have quicker replacements for teacher while taking a hit on teacher competency and qualifications. The video also states that with Teachers leaving so fast it means more courseload and stress for current teachers which forces them to break, creating a never-ending loop of teacher shortages making the situation complicated to tackle. I believe that the solution to this is getting funds from the government to back up current teachers with specific learning programs for there needs and also the most obvious thing is to increase teacher pay across the board.
